According to his online death record, He was born 19 Feb 1881 in Iowa, USA. His Father was Herman Thate from Germany and his mother was Mary Swartz from USA. There is no mention of a wife but the record states he is a widower. Futher searching the BC online death records for the name Thate, there was a son that passed away in 1992 and it lists Henry John being the Father and a Barbara Seidl. Now we know the name of his wife. Barbara died in 1947.
