By 1954 the Cemetery at Woodlands had almost doubled in size from its original one-acre lot. The earliest section had been laid out in a classic 19th century configuration with straight central drives intersecting a large roundabout that contained a tree and ornamental plantings. Although subsequently infilled with additional burials, traces of that cruciform shape are still visible from the air.
The top edge of the cemetery is bounded by five acres of Woodlands' agricultural land. At the bottom is Willow Cottage, one of Woodlands many "international style" buildings.
